Winery

Our family winery is in Bad Vöslau. The family Wertek, have been winegrowing for many generations.

Through the years our business has changed from an arable farming with viticulture to a winery with high quality wines on an international level.

In 2000 we decided to expand and build a new winery. That time the plans for the current Schlossberg winery were developed. And already in 2008, we were able to do the first grape harvest at the new location. We especially paid attention to a quality-enhancing construction. The most important things are healthy and fully ripe grapes. For this reason, we accustomed our vineyards with all our heart and cultivate them in a natural way. At the Schlossberg winery we combine tradition and many years of experience together with modern cellar technology. Every year is different, and it needs a good sensibility and a lot of experience to produce high quality wines. Especially in autumn we need to taste our wines every day. If required, we then act and influence the quality of the product.

Modern technology makes the workflow easier. The grapes are treated in free fall to avoid unnecessary pumping. The white wine ferments quite cool to maintain the fruit of the berry aroma in the modern stainless-steel cellar. This part of the cellar is worthy and modern, but the heart of the wine production is the barrique cellar. The Schlossberg winery cultivated around 25 hectares of vineyards and produces around 100.000 liters of quality wine and around 7.000 liters of grape juice every year. This makes the Schlossberg winery to one of the largest business in the region. The different wines are not only popular with customers but also at wine competitions.
